What's your New Year's "Hair" Resolution?

Great suggestions for healthy, fabulous hair for 2011
As a hair stylist, I often talk with my clients about how to maintain beautiful and healthy hair.  So, it is with honor that I present these four easy tips for you to enjoy healthy hair in 2011.  You deserve to be beautiful!
Find a product line and stick to it!
This is for all of the product junkies out there. Over the years, I, too, have become obsessed with buying and trying different product lines. Then I realized you have to be consistent with a product line in order to see true results.  Because there are so many excellent product lines to choose from, I know it becomes difficult to stay with one product line.
No worries.  I have a great suggestion just for you. Try finding a product line that has a wide variety of choices for different hair types, hair textures and styles. No matter your hair type or what your hair needs, there is a product line out there to match it. So, clean out your cabinet and take time to find a product line that works for you and stick with it!
Find a stylist you connect with!
If you have not found a stylist with whom you have a connection, now, is the time to find her or him.  This point is very important for the health of your hair. The relationship between you and your stylist should be a peaceful and productive one. The two of you are working together to enhance your beauty. It’s important to choose a stylist that has a personality type that works well with your own so that you know your stylist will actually listen to your needs and make style and treatment suggestions for your you and your hair.  With a little time and research, it’s possible to find a stylist that perfectly meets your needs.
Find out what relieves stress in your life!
Did you know both emotional and physical stress have been associated with hair loss? Although we lose a certain amount of hair everyday, hair thinning can also be a temporary condition caused by stress.  For these reasons, it’s very important to learn and practice effective stress management techniques such as exercise (yoga is great for releasing stress), meditation and spa treatments. Less stress in your life equals less stress on your body, which enables your crown of glory to remain strong and healthy. This year take time out for you!
You can eat better and find supplements to support what your body needs!
When it comes to healthy hair, it’s not just what you put on your tresses that matters. What also matters is what you put in your body. Our hair is an external manifestation of how we eat. A well balanced diet that incorporates healthy proteins coupled with foods high in vitamin B, C, E, A and K will surely create healthy and happy hair.

Biotin supplements are both safe and available; large doses have no known toxic effects. A biotin deficiency can cause symptoms similar to those of other vitamin B deficiencies, including anemia, depression, hair loss, high blood sugar, inflammation or pallor of the skin and mucous membranes, insomnia, loss of appetite, muscular pain, nausea, and soreness of the tongue. Because biotin is a factor in the maintenance of healthy hair and skin, hair loss, brittle hair and nails may also be symptoms of deficiency.

Following these simple suggestions will get you started on the right track for the New Year!  I plan to touch on each of these suggestions and give more details so stay tuned…
You are beautiful and your hair should represent that beauty!  Happy New Year and Happy Healthy Hair!
